Storage and handling

Temperature, light, moisture and labelling practices for sealed lyophilised vials.

These are general laboratory practices for sealed vials of lyophilised peptide.

Temperature

  • For long-term storage, keep sealed vials at −20 °C or colder.
  • For short-term storage of a few weeks, 2–8 °C is generally acceptable for most lyophilised peptides.
  • Avoid repeated warming and cooling.

Moisture

Lyophilised powder absorbs moisture from the air. Before opening a cold vial, let it reach room temperature, ideally in a desiccator, so condensation does not form on the powder. Reseal promptly.

Light and oxygen

Store vials in the dark. Peptides containing methionine, cysteine or tryptophan oxidise more easily, so limit exposure to air.

Records

Keep the lot number with your records. It links each vial to its published certificate on our Lab Results page.
